What's Changing for the 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI?

It’s going to be an exciting year for all Volkswagen fans, as the brand new Golf GTI is due to hit the EuroCanterbury show room in 2017. You can expect this legendary compact sports car to have cutting edge technology and genius upgrades that are sure to be the cause of some serious road envy.

It’s without a doubt that Volkswagen has added value across all 2017 models of the GTI. So, what’s new? A major difference that stands out from the 2016 model is the revamped and modernised trim that makes many of your favourite features even more accessible.

The 2017 Golf GTI SE trim boasts The Driver Assistance Package to ensure the driving experience is as comfortable and convenient as possible. This package includes:

  • Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Bling Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert

These systems contribute to the detection of critical situations before they arise, and help to reduce the risk of accidents. You will also find the Driver Assistance Package available on the S trim. The innovative Bi-Xenon headlights and practical Adaptive Front Lighting System are also featured in the Lighting Package.

One of the most significant differences between the 2016 and 2017 GTI is the Sport model that is a brilliant mixture of both S and SE models. The Performance Package comes as standard with the new Sport model and includes:

  • Brakes from the Golf R
  • Electronically controlled, torque sensing, limited-slip differential
  • A 10-hp increase to 220 hp (when using premium fuel)

Equally important and impressive are the 18-inch Nogaro aluminium-alloy wheels, LED Daytime Running Lights, special floormats, and KESSY keyless access with push-button start all available on the new Sport model.
