Adolf Hitler’s Brainchild

Though it was Porsche founder Ferdinand Porsche who developed ‘the people’s car,’ Adolf Hitler is actually credited with the idea of Volkswagen.  In 1938, Hitler even built a whole city with the sole purpose of housing the factory and workers called ‘Kraft durch Fruede,’ or City of the Car, until it was renamed to Wolfsburg in May, 1945.  To this day, this is still the home of Volkswagen.

The World’s Favourite Love Bug

Known in Germany as ‘Der Käfer,' the original Beetle has owned the best-selling car list pretty much for the entire 20th century until it was discontinued in 2003. 

Volkswagen Owns Lamborghini

Along with a lot of other car manufacturers that are under the VW auto group umbrella, such as Audi, Bentley, Bugatti and Porsche is the very sought-after Lamborghini as well. 

Emails are Banned after 6:30pm

In the hopes of attaining a better work/life balance for all employees, VW rolled out a program to reduce stress and promote more time away from work in 2011.  Part of this program was restricting email access to all company communication devices from 6:30pm to 7:30am.

That’s right, they don’t just sponsor but OWN VfL Wolfsburg, a side in Bundesliga.
