Volkswagen Wins Two Used Car Awards
Volkswagen scooped two used car awards at this year’s What Car? Used Car of the Year 2011 Awards. The Estate car category was won by the 2006 Volkswagen Passat, while the 2009 Golf was named best green used car.Judged by a panel of experts from various sectors of the motoring industry, the cars were scrutinised on their style, performance and practicality. The Volkswagen Passat received recognition from the judges for its style, substance and value.
Kurtis Williams from Lex Autolease commented, “The Passat is a brilliantly built premium estate with excellent diesel engines," and added, "it's surprisingly handsome for such a practical car.”
The Volkswagen Golf SE 1.6-litre TDI took the title of best Green used car. Matt Sanger, used car editor at What Car? Said of the vehicle, "Great to drive and very efficient, the Golf should be at the top of every green driver's wish list.”
Volkswagen launched their used car programme, Das WeltAuto, in April 2011, which is designed to make the used car buying experience as appealing as the new car process. The idea is to close the gap between buying new and used cars when it comes to customer requirements.
Volkswagen’s Dave Wilding said, "We've worked hard to develop the right components for the programme and also on branding and marketing. Wherever customers see the orange Das WeltAuto branding they'll know they'll get a great customer experience."
